Project review

The HPP Valkerice is located on the Ploucnice River, the Czech Republic. It dates back to the days of early 19th century industrialization and textile production.

The plant is built on an interesting head of approx. 10m, but suffers heavily from changes in local water conditions.

These issues combined with only one Francis turbine, which was designed for the original power plant, resulted in substantial decrease of production. The facility was also significantly obsolete.

Provided services

Hydropol carried out complex site survey, gathered all necessary data and provided complete feasibility study of the uprating and rehabilitation.

As a result, the plant went through major technology switch to horizontal Kaplan S-turbine and complex refurbishment, which resulted in substantial generation increase.
