Project review

The Skawina hydropower plant is an existing plant which uses water from the cooling circuit of Laczanski-Skawina channel of the thermal power plant Skawina.

Hydropol elaborated a feasibility study to find best technical solution to replace an original turbine from 1959 and to refurbish the power plant by new vertical Kaplan turbine, 2000 kVA generator, and electrical equipment, without interruption of the thermal power plant operation.

Maximum efficiency of the current turbine does not exceeds 82%. The new turbine would achieve up to 93% efficiency. Unattended and automated operation of the plant would significantly minimize maintenance cost.

Provided services

Hydropol provided feasibility study with various options for rehabilitation.
