Project review

The Kostelec HPP is a very typical example of a low head plant built during the Elbe River canalisation and regulation period.

The project represented general overhaul of one turbine and complete replacement of the other two Francis turbines for new Kaplan turbines.

Rehabilitation also included installation of new governing, automation, protection and control system, new substation, modification of the intake, and addition of new trash rack cleaning machine.

As a result, the plant's efficiency and reliability has significantly increased while the operation costs have substantially decreased.

Provided services

The Hydropol\'s scope of services included the development of pre-rehab testing and feasibility studies, and was later followed by complex design, tendering, contracting, legal framework, permitting, and complex project management, including site supervision and commissioning.
